Wayne Rohloff

Wayne Walter George Rohloff, son of Fred and Rose (Hamann) Rohloff, was born February 10, 1926 in Fairfield Township of Swift County, Minnesota. Wayne was baptized on March 14, 1926 at Fairfield church and later confirmed in Holloway. He attended country school in District 2 Moyer Township. Growing up on the farm, Wayne loved animals especially his horses and dogs. This love for animals was present through his entire life. He started farming with his dad after he graduated from the 8 th grade at his country school. On September 6, 1944 Wayne was united in marriage to Vera Stock. To this union 6 children were born. In 1946 he moved to Horton Township, where he bought and operated a dairy farm for 30 years. The family still farms there today.



Wayne was an active member of the community. He taught Sunday school for 25 years and served on the Agralite Co-op and A.S.C.S boards. After Wayne retired from farming, he worked at West Central Homes for 12 years as caretaker.



Wayne’s first wife, Vera, passed away in 1985. He later married Ardelle Anderson and the couple resided in Morris until Wayne’s death.



Wayne loved watching the Minnesota Twins. He enjoyed spending time outside fishing, tending his garden, playing with dogs Mitzy and Buddy, and decorating his yard with Christmas lights and other outdoor decorations. Wayne loved spending time with family and friends putting puzzles together, dancing, and playing cards, especially Schmeer.



Wayne spent the last few months of his life at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, where he was crowned King this past Spring. Wayne passed away Saturday morning August 14, 2010 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home, having lived to reach the age of 84 years.



Wayne is survived by his wife: Ardelle Rohloff of Morris. Six children: Larry (LaMae) Rohloff of Atwater, Lanny (Linda) Rohloff of Morris, Lowell (Cindy) Rohloff of Morris, Bonnie (Greg) Weiler of Morris, Connie (Steve) Berg of Bird Island, and LuAlan (Shawn) Rohloff of Morris; four Stepchildren Calvin (Cheryl) Anderson of Alexandria, Gail Hoffman of Fargo, Kay (Gene) Hacker of Hancock, Jan (Tim) Wagener of Minneapolis; 21 grandchildren: Todd Rohloff, Keith Rohloff, Troy Rohloff, Craig Rohloff, Kevin Rohloff, Corey Rohloff, Michael Rohloff, Jamie Rohloff, David Rohloff, Daniel Rohloff, Tammy (Rohloff) Kaufman, Randee (Weiler) Schoenecker, Jeff Weiler, Renee (Weiler) Saito, Ryan Berg, Brent Berg, Jonathan Berg, Wendy Berg, Mitchell Rohloff, Justin Rohloff, and Tanner Rohloff; 9 Step Grandchildren: Gretchen (Hacker) Shervey, Karla (Hacker) Sundheim, Brendan Hacker, Nathan Hacker, Jack Wagener, Aaron Wagener, Andrea LaFollette, Brian Hoffman, and Rachel Hoffman; 38 great grandchildren; and 2 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Vera, grandson Lonnie Rohloff, and infant brother Virgil Rohloff.



Pallbearers for service are: Wayne’s Grandsons: Todd Rohloff, Corey Rohloff, Jeff Weiler, Justin Rohloff, Craig Rohloff, Ryan Berg and Mitchell Rohloff. Honorary pallbearers are all of Wayne’s remaining grandchildren. Rita Lambert will serve as pianist for the service with Lynn Schulz and Cindy Rohloff providing special music. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
