Funeral services for Eldred Jackson of Starbuck, MN will be Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Starbuck, with Reverend Paul Johnson officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck, and Tuesday, one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Starbuck.
Eldred Selmer Jackson, son of Elmer and Lillian (Loen) Jackson, was born November 20, 1928 on a farm in Grove Lake Township, Minnesota. At a young age, his family moved to a farm near Starbuck, Minnesota; where he grew up and attended country school through the 8th grade. Due to World War II, Eldred had to help his father on the family farm following his schooling. He was united in marriage to Corrine Devick on December 1, 1952 at Kongsvinger Lutheran Church, rural Donnelly. Eldred and Corrine lived on a farm near Starbuck, where their son Darwin was born. In the Spring of 1964, they moved to the homestead farm, where Eldred continued to work and farm until the time of his death.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Eldred enjoyed: fishing, the outdoors, playing whist, keeping up with the news, spending time with his dogs, and watching sports. He was an avid Minnesota Gophers, Twins and Vikings fan. Most of all, Eldred enjoyed being on the farm and spending time with his family.
Eldred died on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Alomere Health in Alexandria, MN. He was 90 years old.
He is survived by his wife: Corrine Jackson of Starbuck; one son: Darwin Jackson of Starbuck; three grandchildren: Sarah Jackson of Spicer, Joshua Jackson of Starbuck, and Hailey Jackson of Starbuck; two brothers: Roger (Lola) Jackson of Sioux Falls, SD and Harold “Bud” (Delores) Jackson of Gaylord; two sisters: Carol (LeRoy) Kennedy of Glenwood and Harriet Johnson of Alexandria; sister-in-law: Marlys Jackson of Starbuck and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter; one daughter: Geana Jackson; one sister: Doris Sylvester and one brother: DeWayne Jackson.
