Funeral services for Geesien “Gay” Kill of Morris, Minnesota, will be held Monday, December 2, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris, with Father Todd Schneider serving as celebrant for the service. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:00 and a rosary to follow, at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Vinger Cemetery, rural Donnelly, Minnesota.
Geesien Gertie Kruize, daughter of Henry and Gertie (Lamfers) Kruize, was born September 28, 1932 in Donnelly, Minnesota. She grew up on a farm near Donnelly and attended country school through the 8th grade. She later moved to Morris where she attended West Central School of Agriculture. Following her schooling, she made her home on a farm north of Morris where she raised her 8 children and worked on the family farm. In 1976, Gay moved to Morris where she worked as a cook at several locations. Due to health reasons, Gay retired and continued to live in Morris until the time of her passing.
Gay was a member of Assumption Catholic Church and the Morris American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, reading, bird watching, collecting elephants and spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Geesien passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at West Wind Village in Morris. She was 87 years old.
She is survived by eight children: William (Joan) Kill of Houlton, WI, Howard (Deb) Kill of Donnelly, Doug (Dawn) Kill Sr. of Morris, Lloyd (Cecilia) Kill of Morris, Kathy (Rick) Carlson of Morris, Debbie (John) Van Eps of Blaine, Betty Kill (Friend: Frank Nelson) of Morris and Patty Nienhaus of Morris. 16 grandchildren: Joel, Collin, Doug, Jon, Missy, Jeremiah, Kyle, Chris, Geoff, Shelley, Karrie, Bennett, Isaac, Gabrielle, Jaclyn and Joe; 24 great-grandchildren: Courtney, Jacob, Tate, Tajara, Trenity, Talia, Kendel, Adam, Bristol, Brody, Jonny, Mikey, Billy, Kaitlin, Tristan, Austin, Amaya, Izaak, Memphis, Vivian, Alex, Ava, Jordan and Bella; and sister: Etta Pederson of Morris. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers: William, Eltjo, John, Ben and George Kruize and one grand-daughter-in-law: Kolleen Kill.
