Funeral services for Carol Boon Nelson of Morris, MN will be held Friday, November 21, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Hancock, with Reverend Julius Miller officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock.

Carol Jean Dalen, daughter of Julian and Julia (Andrews) Dalen, was born January 4, 1928 in Kragero Township in Chippewa County, Minnesota. She was baptized in February 1928, and confirmed in May 1942 at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan, MN. Carol grew up in Milan, where she graduated from Milan High School in 1946. She worked as a secretary in the office of the Milan High School from 1946 to 1948. On September 5, 1948, she was united in marriage to John Herman Boon Following their marriage, the couple began farming together in Moore Township and raising their four children. John passed away December 31, 1963. Carol worked at Johnson’s Hardware Store and Hancock State Bank. Carol was united in marriage to Max Allen Nelson on April 20, 1974 and then lived in Sebeka, MN. Carol was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Menahga, MN. Max passed away on December 12, 1993.

In 1997, Carol moved to Morris, to live at West Central Christian Homes. She volunteered at tops at the Senior Citizens Center. Carol was an active member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Hancock, where she served on many committees, circles, Homemakers Club Lend a Hand. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, sewing, reading and bird watching and traveled on many bus tours. Her many handmade gifts for family included a knitted Christmas stocking for each child and grandchild and a hand stitched quilt for each grandchild. She was always delighted to have guests or family over to visit. Carol’s favorite times were spent with her children and grandchildren, and of course following her favorite team the Minnesota Twins.

Carol died on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at West Wind Village in Morris, MN. She was 97 years old.

She is survived by three children: Sandra (Duane) Zeltwanger of Hancock, Donald (Carol) Boon of Hancock and Diane (Hal) Klinger of Valley City, ND; ten grandchildren: Stephanie Berget, John (Jen) Boon, Sarah (Jim) VandeVoort, Becky (Grant) Binford, Kara (Jason) Mrnak, Eric (Karen) Barsness, Chelsie (Tom) Martin, Ryan (Angela) Jepma and Matthew Jepma; 21 great-grandchildren: Kody Berget, Clay & Cole Zeltwanger, Abigail, Shae, Grace, John Luke and Sadie Boon, Dustin VandeVoort, Levi, Lane and Katelyn Binford, Andrew, Jacob and Allie Mrnak, Ethan and Caleb Barsness, Taylor and Jordyn Martin, Ella, Michael and Brayden Jepma. She was preceded in death by her husbands: John Boon and Max Nelson; her daughter, Julie Boon; her parents; grandson, Jason Zeltwanger; grandson-in-law: Kerry Berget and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Leland and Olive and Ernest and Barb Dalen.
