A Memorial Service for Chuck Stadsvold of Starbuck will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Indherred Lutheran Church in Starbuck, Minnesota. Visitation will be held from 5:00–7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026, at the Starbuck Funeral Home and will continue at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at a later date.
Charles “Chuck” Dean Stadsvold, son of Julian and Verna (Espelien) Stadsvold, was born on August 19, 1952, in Starbuck, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Indherred Lutheran Church. He graduated from Starbuck High School with the Class of 1970. Following high school, Chuck moved to the Twin Cities, where he met the love of his life, Deb Johnson, his sister’s roommate. Chuck and Deb were married on April 6, 1974. They were blessed with two children, Cory and Bobbi Jo, and raised their family in Starbuck, Minnesota.
Chuck began his 40-year career with the Department of Natural Resources as a Fisheries Technician in Glenwood, Minnesota, in 1974. But for Chuck, the workday rarely ended when he came home. He was a hardworking man who took great pride in providing for and caring for his family. Chuck was happiest when he was busy. Hunting and trapping were longtime passions. He patiently waited many years for the “big buck,” and when he finally got it, he proudly displayed it for everyone to see. He also spent winters trapping, enjoying the challenge and excitement while earning a little extra money for his family.
Chuck loved antiquing and searching garage sales for hidden treasures—and, of course, more tools for his shop. If you visited his shop, you knew he had everything he needed in there, along with peanuts, candy, and pop to share with anyone who stopped by. It was also in his shop where he and his wife enjoyed bringing old oak furniture back to life, carefully restoring pieces to their original beauty. He had a gift for fixing things. If something was broken, you brought it to Chuck.
On his first airplane vacation to Maui, Hawaii he found joy in watching the sunsets and walking the beaches in search of little treasures. He became a skilled gardener, growing vegetables he proudly sold at the Holmes City Farmers Market with help from Deb. Alongside his produce were many of his handmade creations, including barnwood frames, license-birdhouses, license-plate dustpans, deer-hoof hat/coat/gun racks, wooden trays, homegrown popcorn, and homemade jellies.
His grandchildren always brought special smiles to his face, and he took great joy and pride in each of them, celebrating their milestones and successes. Chuck will be remembered for his kind and generous heart and his mischievous sense of humor. If you were lucky enough to call him family or friend, chances are you were on the receiving end of one of his pranks—and have a story to tell because of it.
Chuck died peacefully on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family. He had just turned 74 years old.
Chuck is survived by his children, Cory (Jennae) Stadsvold of Elbow Lake; Bobbi Jo (Brandon Burke) Stadsvold of River Falls, WI; grandchildren: Triston (Mickey) Korkowski of Litchfield, Benton Stadsvold of Gillette, WY, Kelsey Stadsvold of Elbow Lake, and Samantha Jo Stadsvold-Burke of River Falls, WI; great-grandchildren: Teddy Dockter-Korkowski and Ellie Dockter-Korkowski of Litchfield; brothers, Dennis (Georgianna) Stadsvold of Starbuck and Jim Stadsvold of Eagan; sisters, Judy (Mike) Johnson of Starbuck and Mary (Mike) Erickson of Starbuck; In-laws: Emery (Barb) Johnson, Dennis (Roxanne) Johnson, Mary (Curt) Ettesvold, and Janet Johnson, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Verna Stadsvold and wife, Deb Stadsvold.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Glacial Ridge Hospice.
The Starbuck Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements for Chuck.
