Corinne (Woolridge) Flaten was born on July 30, 1930 the daughter of LeRoy and Julia (LeSage) Woolridge of Morris. She graduated from Morris High School, then attended nursing school graduating with her BSN. Corinne met Gordon Flaten and the two were united in marriage in 1952. Their union was blessed with two children, Bruce and Brenda. Corinne worked for many years as a registered nurse, caring for the community that she loved. When she was not working, she often could be found in her kitchen cooking meals and baking treats for family and friends. She spent countless hours knitting, crocheting and sewing. Each child and grandchild has treasured afghans and blankets that she crafted for them. Her dishcloths and potholders are staples in all of their kitchens. Family and friends could go to their mailbox and always find a card with a little note inside celebrating their birthday or a holiday. She loved to give to others almost as much as she loved chocolate. Tables of sweets always appeared during holiday gatherings, along with special Christmas favorites like krumkake and lefse.

Corinne was a lifetime member of the Kongsvinger Lutheran Church and volunteered for many years with the various church activities and women’s groups. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary serving as a past president, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the local Legion. Corinne enjoyed the conversation and comradery of the Red Hat Club, Sons of Norway, and multiple ladies circles. Corinne loved spending time with family and friends as she held strong beliefs in traditional family values.
