Married Gordon Doose on May 2, 1959. We had 6 children. Married Harry Kruize on August 24, 1987.

When I was growing up in Brandon as a child, we all had our chores to do. We took turns doing the dishes and cleaning. We all had to make our beds in the morning. During the summer, we all played a lot of ball. We all liked sports. In the winter months, we’d walk into town (our mailbox was the line between town and country) and ice skate. Note - we walked. Later, I took swimming lessons and became a pretty good swimmer. Later, I took piano lessons and played the french horn in band until I became a junior. Then the band director thought I was windy enough to play the bass horn. Guess he knew me pretty well. I was a cheerleader for football and basketball for 4 years. I wish they would have had girl’s basketball and softball then.

With such a big family, we always had a big garden. To this day, I do NOT like to pull weeds so don’t have a garden. I hate the mosquitoes too. I remember picking and shelling peas for several days and Mom and Grandma canning. I think we ate more than we should have.

I got my first real job when I was in 7th grade. I washed dishes in the city cafe for $0.35 an hour. I thought this was good money because I only got $0.25 an hour for babysitting. It wasn’t long and I was doing waitress work. I recall the time the railroad crew came in and asked for American fries. I always called them fried potatoes. They had a good laugh over that. I did a lot of waitress work up until I got married. Those days were not good “tipping” days. Two older Germans from the Millerville area came in every day and tried to teach me German. It’s hard to teach a “norske” German, but I enjoyed it. My Mother’s Mother lived with us. When she and my parents didn’t want us to know what they were saying, they’d talk Norwegian. Now I wish I had learned that.

In high school, I was in three class plays. My senior year, we put on “The Adorable Imp”. Guess what part I played? It was Grint.

I wanted to go on to school and become an English and Math teacher. My older sister was going to school and we didn’t have a lot of money, so I gave that dream up and worked a year before getting married. Gordon and I farmed in Millerville Township for seven years before we bought a farm south of Brandon. We were dairy farmers. We had six children - JoAnn, Karla, Larry, Melissa, Neil and Brenda. Note the J-K-L-M-N!! I just couldn’t name the baby Olena even though it would have been a namesake for both our grandmothers, Lena and Olena. Larry passed away at age of 3 weeks. I also worked in the supermarket and Citizens Bank in Brandon for 14.5 years. After our divorce, I met Harry Kruize at a dance in Elbow Lake. Three years later we married and I moved to his farm 3 miles east of Donnelly.

I now have 5 children, 10 grandchildren, 7 great grand kids, 3 step children, 7 step grandchildren, 14 great grandkids. I love these kids as my own. I’m in the progress of brain washing one of the little boys that I’m his favorite Grandma.

I love bowling and playing horseshoe. Some of my interests now are quilting and grandkids. Harry and I both like to travel. We’ve been to all the states except Delaware by car.

My favorite music is religious music. I love to sing. I’m humming or singing all the time. I’m a happy person - why not show it!!

I guess I like all 4 seasons, but I don’t really care for temperatures above 80 degrees and below 0 degrees.

I worked at Phoenix Realty as a Secretary for 14 years. I enjoy working with figures so like the work. While I worked in the bank, I was head of the Auction Clerking Service. When Wallace Schiele started his own clerking crew for auctions, I started working for him too. I really enjoy going back to the Brandon-Alexandria area for auctions and seeing lots of my friends. I’ve met a lot of very nice people at auctions too.

I’ve been church Treasurer, Secondary School Teacher, Financial Secretary for 2 bowling leagues, Treasurer for Community Club.

For my fun, I cross stitched many “treasurers”, framed them and gave them to those who were recorded. I love telling jokes and make people smile.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to Grace Lutheran Sunday School and Kongsvinger Lutheran Sunday School. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in care of the arrangements for Corrinne.
