Funeral service for Dave Rasmusen, age 65, of Starbuck, Minnesota will be on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Minnewaska Lutheran Church in Starbuck.  Reverend Joel Rolf will be officiating.  A visitation will be held on Friday evening, from 4-7:00 p.m. with a time of sharing at 6:00 p.m. at the Starbuck Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.  Burial will be at Minnewaska Lutheran Cemetery in Starbuck.  Starbuck Funeral Home is in care of arrangements for Dave.

David Oscar Rasmusen, Sr., 65, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at his home in Travelers Rest, South Carolina. He was born at Starbuck Hospital on July 20, 1956.  Dave is survived by his wife Tracy Lynn (Howe) Rasmusen.  They met in Montrose, Minnesota in 1975 and were married the following year in Fort Riley, Kansas on March 21, 1976.  They were married 44 ½ years.

Dave served in the United States Army for 29 years; serving 3 years active duty and 26 years in the Reserves.

Dave graduated with honors from the University of Minnesota earning both a Master of Arts in Business Economics and a Master of Business Administration. He worked as an accountant/controller, beginning with Price Waterhouse in 1983 and retired from Eaton Hydraulics Corporation in Spencer, Iowa in 2018.

Dave was the third-generation owner of his family’s farm in Starbuck, Minnesota.  In 2020 the farm celebrated its 100-year anniversary in the Rasmusen family name and was recognized as a century farm.

Dave is survived by his three children, his son, David Oscar Rasmusen, Jr. (Jess), of Savage, Minnesota, daughters Michelle Lynn Garrison (Mark), of Travelers Rest, South Carolina and Laura Helen Phillips (Steve), of Travelers Rest, South Carolina. Dave is survived by eight grandchildren, Faith Rasmusen, Brittany Rasmusen, Kaitlyn Rasmusen, Alexis Lamere, Max Garrison, Samantha Garrison, Henry Phillips, and Sally Phillips. He is also survived by three sisters, Helen Stafsholt (Jon), Bonnie Devick (Joe), and Ruth Anderson (Bruce), and a sister-in-law, Chuni Rasmusen. Dave was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Melvin Rasmusen, his mother, Violet Arlene (Hinze) Rasmusen, and a brother, Daniel Rasmusen (Chuni).

Dave was a member of Minnewaska Lutheran Church, Starbuck, MN, and Travelers Rest United Methodist Church, Travelers Rest, SC. He was also a member of the Starbuck Men’s Veteran’s Auxiliary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Starbuck Men’s Veteran’s Auxiliary.
