Delphin Reimers

The memorial service for Delphin A. Reimers, of Omaha, Nebraska, formerly of Alberta, Minnesota will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chokio, with Reverend Gloria Anderson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. A memorial service was held on Sunday, January 22, 2017 in Omaha, Nebraska. Burial will be at Synnes Cemetery, near Alberta at a later date.

Delphin A. Reimers was born on February 14, 1952 in Morris, Minnesota. He was joined by his twin brother Douglas, 20 minutes later to the joy of their parents Elwin and Evelyn Reimers of Alberta. Delphin attended Alberta Public School and graduated from Chokio-Alberta High School in 1970; he was the Salutatorian of his graduating class.

Delphin attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota and Metropolitan State College in St. Paul, Minnesota, graduating in 1974, with a degree in Human Relationships Child Development. In 1999, he earned a Master of Science Degree from Houston-Clear Lake University, Houston, Texas and in 2000, earned a horticultural degree while in Omaha, Nebraska. Delphin served in the Peace Corps as a field worker and later as a field trainer from 1974-1982 in Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Venezuela. After the Peace Corps, he worked for an IT company in Houston until 1997. At the time of his death, Delphin worked for the Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha in the Systems Development Methodology Department.
He was a man of many talents. He loved music, arts, cooking, baking and gardening. Delphin excelled at everything he tried in life.

Delphin died on January 19, 2017 in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 64 years. He fought a valiant and courageous battle with cancer of 10 years.

He is survived by: his twin brother, Douglas (Hilda) Reimers, of Eden Prairie, MN, brothers Richard (Sandy) Reimers, and Hugh (Barbara) Reimers, all of Chokio, MN; one sister, Kathleen (Bill) Taylor, of Riverside, CA; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Delphin was preceded in death by his parents, Elwin and Evelyn, one brother, Robert and his grandparents, Adolph and Viola Reimers and Emil and Augusta Maus.
