Memorial services for Dennis Picht of Chokio, MN will be Monday, November 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Chokio, with Reverend Erik Rundquist officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial will be at Artichoke Lake Cemetery, rural Chokio, Minnesota at a later date.

Dennis Harold Picht, son of Harold and Thelma (Weedman) Picht, was born August 12, 1943 in Tracy, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. Denny attended and graduated from Holloway High School in 1961. Following his schooling, he farmed with his dad and brother and also worked at Tylers in Benson. In 1964, he was united in marriage to Barbara Nissen of Hancock at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church. From this marriage, three sons were born, Wesley, Wayne and Edward. From 1967 to 1971, Denny worked at the fertilizer plant in Appleton. In 1971, he became manager of the fertilizer plant in Chokio, where he continued to work until his retirement.

Denny was a member of the Chokio Sportsman and a volunteer on the Chokio Fire Department, where he also served as chief. Denny enjoyed hunting and fishing with his boys and friends, but his fondest memory was the trip to Alaska with his sons. Denny also like playing baseball and for many years he played on the Hancock Orphans Baseball Team.

Dennis died on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris; he was 80 years old.

He is survived by his sons: Wayne (Terri) Picht of Chokio and Wesley Picht of Chokio; six grandchildren: Jared, Cody, Tucker, Tierra, Wyatt and Madison; four great-grandchildren: Ayden, Easton, Owen and Rigley; one brother: Larry Picht and one sister: Carol (Kenneth) Rohloff and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son: Edward Earl Picht; his parents; infant brother, Earl and baby boy Picht; sister: Lola Phelps and step-father: Edward Blume.

Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in care of the arrangements for Dennis.
