Funeral services for Donald "Don" Joos of Morris, Formerly of Hancock, MN will be Friday, May 24, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Hancock, MN. Reverend Julius Miller will be officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock.

Donald Eugene Joos, son of David and Corneilia “Neil” (Nohl) Joos, was born November 15, 1939 in Hodges Township in Stevens County, Minnesota. Don attended and graduated from Hancock High School in 1957. Following his schooling, Don joined the National Guard, serving six years and earning the rank of Sergeant. On September 16, 1967, he was united in marriage to Jeanette Melchert at Zion Lutheran Church in Morris. Following their marriage, the couple lived and farmed near Hancock. Don and his brother, David Jr. formed a partnership called Da-Don Farm. In September of 2017, Don and Jeanette celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. In October of 2018, they moved to Morris where they continued to live until the time of Don’s death.

Don was a member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Hancock, where he served on the church council for 12 years. He also served on the Hancock Co-op Board for 26 years and the Hancock School Board for 18 years. Don enjoyed baseball, bowling, fishing, hunting, and softball. He was the manager of the Hancock Orphans for many years. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Don died on Monday, May 20, 2019 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris. He was 79 years old.

Don is survived by his wife: Jeanette Joos of Morris; three sons: Greg (Sherryl) Joos of Plymouth, Steve (Karma) Joos of Columbia, MO and Doug Joos of Carver; nine grandchildren: Mavrik Joos of Plymouth, Jacob, Bekah, Caroline, Lily and Jordan Joos all of Columbia, MO and Ethan, Reid and Sydney Joos all of Carver; one brother: David Jr. (Phyllis) Joos of Hancock; one sister: Shirley Arsenault of Phoenix, AZ; two sisters-in-law: Sandra (Jack) Burns of Benson and Barbara (Harold) White of Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Joos Sr and Corneilia Joos and brother-in-law: Dennis Arsenault.
