Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy Chizek of Morris will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris with Father Todd Schneider officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to Mass. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Morris.
Dorothy (Schneider) Chizek was born on March 21, 1932 in Lidgerwood, North Dakota the daughter of Ernest and Julia (Gereszek) Schneider.
Dorothy’s education culminated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. On August 9, 1958, she married Donald Chizek in Lidgerwood, North Dakota. Along with raising her family, Dorothy worked as a teacher for five and a half years and a nutritionist with Stevens County Public Health for 18 years and other various jobs. She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church where she faithfully served and was a member of the St. Michael’s Mission group. She was honored to be the first lay person in church to serve as communion minister. Serving her community was important to her along with volunteering at the DAC, the West Wind Village and serving as a Benedictine Oblate and an Associate with the Franciscan Sisters.
Dorothy attended many baseball games over the years, enjoyed gardening, playing bridge, going to the lake and visiting with family and friends, whom she loved dearly.
Dorothy died Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at West Wind Village in Morris. She was 93 years old.
Survivors include her children, Mary (Robert) Rinkenberger of Morris, Tom (Kristin) Chizek of Minnetonka and Ted Chizek of Park Rapids; grandchildren, Robby Rinkenberger, Joey (Kayla) Rinkenberger, Crystal (Kurtis) Koehl; Greta (Max Perkins) Chizek, Will Chizek, Tara (Todd) Sather, Sierra Chizek and Sydra Chizek; great-grandchildren, Jack, Miller and Meredith Sather, Ely, Ambrose, Oliver and Ivy Rinkenberger and Kyle, Derek, Todd, Lane and Quentin Koehl; sisters, Marilyn Toepfer of Denver and Charlotte Donovan of San Diego. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Julia; husband, Donald and grandson, Stefan Chizek.
The Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in care of the arrangements for Dorothy.
