HANCOCK

A private memorial service will be held for Edmond “Ed” Kenyon at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, MN. Burial will follow at the Graceville Consolidated Cemetery with Military Honors.

Ed was born on October 14, 1946 in Britton, SD, to Edmund and Wilma (Graham) Kenyon. Eddie and his three siblings, Ronald, Joyce, and Arlene were raised by their mom and grandmother after his father passed away in July of that year.

Wilma and the kids lived in Barry, MN, and Graceville, MN before settling down just east of Morris. Eddie attended country school until 7th grade. He then transferred to the high school in Morris, MN where he met his high school sweetheart, Connie Janke. Eddie graduated from Morris High school on May, 29, 1964.

Shortly following graduation, Eddie followed his big brother into the Marine Corp, where he proudly served our country for four years, fighting in the Vietnam War. Following his service in Vietnam, he came home and married his high school sweetheart, Connie Janke, on October 7, 1967 at First Lutheran Church in Morris. After the wedding, the couple resided in Camp Lejuene in Jackson, NC. Upon his honorable discharge from the Marine Corp, the couple drove nonstop to Minnesota so he could be the best man in his brother’s wedding.

They lived in town of Morris for a short time before Eddie convinced his bride to try country living. He told her if she liked it he would buy her a horse and if not they could move back to town. They rented a home over by Graceville and Eddie worked for Toby and Dorothy Maanum on the farm. Although they both loved the county life, no horse showed up. After starting a family, the couple chose to live in the Hancock area to raise their three children, Kimberly, Kristy, and Joel. Ed worked for UPS and had 30 years of safe driving for the company.

He enjoyed the simple country life raising his kids, dogs, sheep, ducks, chickens, and geese. He loved working with his hands especially carpentry. At a young age he worked alongside, Art, a neighbor who taught him a lot of carpentry skills. Eddie received a certificate of completion. He created many memorial pieces. His hobbies including hunting with his Labradors that he trained for many years, deer hunting, fishing many nights in the fish house, camping, and collecting his blue ford tractors.

Family was Eddie’s priority in life. He loved teaching his kids and later on his grandkids, from changing a tire, to wood working, to mowing the yard, and hunting. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his wife. They baled hay and Ed would always tease Connie about speeding up (Connie always got the last laugh), knowing a pin would be sheared on the baler. Ed remodeled the inside of the barn to help make it more efficient for Connie to spend time with her sheep during lambing season.

Eddie passed away on January 18, 2026 surrounded by his family at Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris after a long battle of COPD.

He is survived by his children, Kimberly Kenyon-Brown of Long Prairie, Kristy (Greg) Dueffert of Elko New Market and Joel Kenyon of Hancock; grandchildren, Nathan, Carter, and MacKenzie Brown, Tyler, Kendra and Brandon Dueffert, and Kaytlynn Kenyon; brother-in-law, Dale Beyer; sister-in-law, Cheryl Kenyon; and several nieces and nephews.

He was welcomed home by his wife, Connie; his parents, Edmund and Wilma; son-in-law, Scott Brown; brother, Ronald; and sisters, Joyce and Arlene.

Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in care of the arrangements for Ed.
