Erwin Anderson

Memorial services for Erwin Anderson of Morris, MN will be held Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Morris, MN, with Reverend Dan Belgum-Blad officiating. Visitation will be Friday, December 29, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery at a later date.

Erwin Arthur Anderson was born in rural Beardsley, Minnesota, to Martha and Howe Anderson on July 29, 1932. The Andersons moved to the Barrett Ranch near Herman Minnesota. Erwin attended country school until he was 10 years old, when they moved to Hancock. Erwin graduated from high school as a proud Owl athlete. Erwin lived all his life around Hancock and Morris, except for two years when he was in the Army and was stationed in Germany

Erwin married Jean Alfson from Cyrus in 1954. They lived on the family farm where they raised their four children. Erwin became ill with a lung problem at age 41 and his farming days were over. He then went to work for Berger Chevrolet Company in Morris, which became Heartland Chevrolet. Erwin worked for Heartland until 2016. He really enjoyed his time with Heartland and the people there.

Erwin enjoyed socializing, talking to people and just being around them. He enjoyed his family, especially when he had his grandkids around to give direction and advice to! Erwin did a lot of traveling with friends and family. He appreciated his army buddies and the VFW was very important to him. He was proud to have been the VFW Commander for several years.

Erwin died on Monday, December 18, 2017 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN. He lived to 85 years.

Erwin is survived by his wife Jean; his children Terrie Jo Schmidt (Mark) of Farmington; Bill Anderson of San Diego, CA; Steven Anderson (Kris) of Sandstone; Kellie Fae Bloom (Monte) of Zimmerman and his grandchildren; Mara Schmidt, Melissa Biamonte (Darin), Uriah Anderson (Melissa), Maegen Anderson Phaneuf (John), Bob Anderson, Crystal Anderson, Chase Anderson, Jessica Bloom Chapman (Andrew), Cody Bloom (Jen), Stefan Bloom (Jenni); two great grandchildren Ben and Oliver Anderson and one on the way! sisters-in-law JoAnn Anderson, Lila Estenson, Marjorie Alfson and Shirley Alfson and brothers-in-law, Bill Myers, Gordy Alfson and James Alfson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Howe and Martha Anderson; brother, Harold Anderson; sisters Arletta Myers and Lyla Mae Lembcke; brothers-in-law Orrin Alfson, Larry Lembcke, Martin Estenson and Red Jarvis and sister-in-law, Ruby Alfson.
