A funeral service for Gayle Hoffman of Morris will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Herman with Reverend Craig Palach officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5th at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and will continue at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Herman.
Gayle Margaret Sax was born on September 2, 1936, in Morris, Minnesota the daughter of Irwin and Margaret (Clark) Sax. She grew up East of Morris near Pomme de Terre Lake and later moved into Morris. She attended Morris Public Schools and graduated from Morris High School in 1954.
She married Wallace Schmidt and the couple had two children, Brett and Amy, and later divorced. On December 1, 1979, she married, Wesley Hoffman at St. John Lutheran Church in Hancock and added Wesley’s children, Jeff and Michelle.
The couple made their home in Norcross. Gayle and Wes owned and operated G & W Manufacturing. Gayle also worked at the Norcross Elevator and was the Norcross City Clerk. After retiring, they enjoyed wintering in Rockport, Texas and summers on Ten Mile Lake by Dalton.
Gayle was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, taking walks, baking, camping, reading, travels to Mexico, and socializing with the West Central Homes residents.
She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Herman, LWML and Norcross Study Club.
Gayle died Friday, August 1, 2025, at Courage Cottage in Morris. She was 88 years old.
Survived by children, Brett (Jan) Schmidt of Ottertail, Amy (Brian) Solvie of Morris; step-daughters, Michelle Johnson of North Branch; 12 grandchildren, Breanna (Justin) Jones, Brinn (Hope) Braton, Jaycee Schmidt, Abbi (Tyler) Henrichs, Sydney Solvie, Wes (Angie) Hoffman, Lisa (Randy) Gades, Heather Hoffman, Jessica Hoffman, Lucas (Melissa) Hoffman, Cody Johnson and Tehya Johnson; 19 great-grandchildren and in-laws, Carol Skarsten, Harriet Amundson, Luverne (Mary) Hoffman, Gerald Hoffman, Joyce (Rolf) Stadfuss and Marie Hoffman. She was preceded in death by her parents Irwin and Margaret; husband, Wesley Hoffman; and step-son, Jeff Hoffman and 10 siblings and numerous relatives and friends.
Memorials preferred to Courage Cottage in Morris.
