Helen Shirley Peterson

A Memorial Service for Helen S. Peterson of Hancock, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris with Rev. Matt Orendorff officiating. Inurnment will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock.

Helen Shirley Peterson was born on May 21, 1927, in Moore Township, Stevens County, Minnesota the daughter of Arthur and Gelena (Kloppen). She lived her life on a farm in Moore Township south of Hancock and graduated from Hancock High School in 1945. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Hancock, Minnesota. She loved living on the farm and enjoyed her animals, especially her dogs.

When Helen was young, she worked at different jobs in Hancock and Morris. She valued her family and friends. In later years when it was harder for her to leave her home, she kept contact with friends and relatives by phone.

Helen died Friday, September 4, 2026, at the Barrett Care Center in Barrett, Minnesota. She was 99 years old.

She is survived by cousins, Alvin Kloppen and his wife Lucille of Burnsville, Carol Iverson of Grundy Center, IA and other distant relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, aunts, uncles and several cousins.

The Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in care of the arrangements for Helen.
