Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at the Assumption Catholic Church in Morris, Minnesota. Visitation will take place on Friday, January 31, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Assumption Catholic Church with a Knights of Columbus Rosary starting at 5:30 p.m. and prayer service to follow. Visitation will continue the day of mass at the church from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at a later day at the St. Mary's Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
James Robert Bove was born on July 7, 1930, the son of Robert and Amelia (Strick) Bove of Minneapolis, Minnesota. James attended school in Minneapolis. After graduating high school James served his country by joining the United States Navy. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, James started working for Bell Telephone as a cable splicer, he would retire from the company in 1980. On October 14, 1983, James married Mary Ann Dise. Mary Ann, cherished her time with James as he was such a loving and caring husband. He often would come home with flowers for her, reminding her of how much he cherished her. James kids remember their dad and stepdad for his stories that he would tell that could entertain for hours. He passed on his passion for hunting and fishing on the lake during the summer. James and Mary Ann wintered in Florida and spent their summers in Minnesota. In retirement, he trained and became a reserve officer for Carver County, his summer job. In winters he volunteered for the fire department in Florida, hanging up his gear and name badge at the age of 75. James was an active member of Assumption Catholic Church and was involved in the Knights of Columbus. He loved traveling around and trying the area towns lutefisk dinners, but none of them tasted as good as when his Mary Ann cooked it for him. James had a devotion to his family and especially had a close relationship with his Lord and Savior.
On Sunday, January 26, 2020, James passed away at the Courage Cottage in Morris. He was 89 years old.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; son, Jim (Kathy) Bove Jr., stepchildren, Susan (Ron) Westrich, Rosemary (Buster) Altman, Theresa (Doug) Wilhelm, Joan (Ray) Eastlack, Margaret (Tom) Schneider, Elizabeth (Pete) Liupakka, Lois (Pat) Wissbaum, Commander Paul (Dee) Dise- United States Navy Retired; daughter-in-law, Sue Dise; a “Boatload” of grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Amelia Bove, stepsons, John, Jeff and Eric Dise; and sister, Carol Gorman.
