James Crummie

James Floyd Crummie, son of Stanley and Ethel (Scott) Crummie, was born on May 2, 1929 on a farm in Tiffin Township, Adams County, Ohio.  He grew up and attended country school for a few years and later graduated from West Union High School in 1947.  Following his schooling, James enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served during the Korean War, working in the engine room aboard the ship USS Leary.  He received an honorable discharge in 1952.  James moved back to West Union, Ohio.  He was united in marriage to Anna Quick on December 5, 1953 in Richmond, Indiana.  Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Cincinnati, where James worked at General Electric as a Master Machinist; later moving to Creston, Iowa, where he continued working for General Electric.  In 1970, the couple moved back to Cincinnati, where he worked for Binns Machinery, where he retired in 1991.  They returned to West Union in 1991 until 2002 when they moved to Stevens County, where he continued to live until the time of his death.

James was a life member of the American Legion where he served as Commander three times.  He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family.

James is survived by his wife, Anna Crummie of Donnelly; seven children: Mary (Barry) Tadlock of Cincinnati, Ohio, Michael (Rita) Crummie of Manchester, Ohio, Dianna Crummie of Oaklyn, New Jersey, Margaret (Clay) Rundquist of Donnelly, Nichole Smith of Beaver Creek, Ohio, Nicholas Crummie of Somerset, Kentucky and Austin Phipps of Donnelly; 5 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.  He is preceded in death by his parents, two sons: James A. Crummie and Wade E. Crummie, two sisters and one brother.
