James Greiner

Funeral services for James Greiner, of Morris, Minnesota, will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church in rural Morris.  A visitation will be on Tuesday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.  Burial will be at the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.

James Lee Greiner was the first of six children born to Walter and Gladys (Bye) Greiner on January 18, 1953 in Morris, Minnesota.  Jim was raised in Horton Township, Stevens County, Minnesota, until 1976, when he moved with his family to rural Morris.  The whole family continued to live together, and in 2008, they moved to their new home on the same farm place.  The family was able to continue to live together under the care of their youngest sister, Ilene.  In 2021, Jim became a resident at West Wind Village in Morris, where he received great care by all of the loving staff.   He enjoyed his time there, always walking around and meeting new people.  Jim was the first client to attend the Stevens County DAC, where he worked for over 40 years.  He was still attending two times a week up until the week before he passed away! The DAC was very important to Jim, they were his second family.

Jim loved watching birds, reading newspaper, sitting outside, watching traffic go by, putting hay bales in the elevator, and going to church.  He also enjoyed is weekly bowling trips and going to Chanhassen Dinner Theatre with his DAC friends. Jim was a man of few words, so when he spoke, it was something very special.  The day before he passed away, holding Ilene’s hand, he gave it a squeeze and said to her, “I’m going to Heaven!”

James passed away Friday, January 27, 2023, at West Wind Village in Morris.  He was 70 years old.

He is survived by four siblings: Joyce Greiner, Robert Greiner, Richard Greiner and Ilene Greiner all of Morris.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Terry Greiner and other relatives.
