Graveside services for Jan Traphagan of Cokato, will be Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Summit Cemetery in Morris, with Reverend Matthew Orendorff officiating.
Jan Maureen Traphagan was born on December 15, 1957, to Albert and Gladys (Koons) Traphagan in Little Falls, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Zion Lutheran Church and raised in Little Falls, Minnesota. Jan received her education and graduated from Little Falls High School in 1976. Upon graduation, she moved to Parkland, Washington, where she attended Pacific Lutheran University; attaining a Bachelors of Arts Degree. While in Parkland, she worked in her brother Ricky’s used bookstore, The Book Worm. In 1987, she moved back to Minnesota and worked at Sears, Fleet Farm, and then T.J.Maxx in St Cloud as the Operations Manager. In October of 2022, Jan was diagnosed with cancer, two weeks before her retirement.
A few of Jan’s interests were reading, sewing, spending time outdoors, studying her family’s genealogy, and most importantly spending time with her sisters and family.
Jan died on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at her residence in Cokato, Minnesota. She was 65 years old.
Jan is survived by her four sisters: Fran Traphagan of Minneapolis, Lori Traphagan of Skakopee, Brenda Traphagan of Puyallup, Washington, and Kari (Michael) Spiess of Chanhassen; two brothers: Gary (Patti) Traphagan of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Mark Traphagan of Menomonie, Wisconsin; 11 nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and great nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Gladys; and brothers: Richard Traphagan and Michael Traphagan.
