Jeanne Guter

Helen Jeanne Guter, age 90, longtime resident of Morris MN, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Comforts of Home in Hudson, WI. She was born the daughter of Alfred and Julia (Kirwin) Cairney on July 11, 1920 in Morris , MN . Jeanne grew up in Morris, graduated from Morris High School , and went on to nursing school at St. Mary's Hospital in Minneapolis , MN . During WWII she served as a nurse in the US Navy from 1942-44, with active duty in New Caledonia in the Pacific theatre. On September 11, 1944 Jeanne was united in marriage to Robert John Guter. They were blessed with five daughters. Jeanne worked as a registered nurse at the Stevens County Memorial Hospital in Morris for over 20 years.

Jeanne was a wonderful wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt, nurse, and friend to all. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, baking, playing bridge and other card games, attending concerts, and spending time with family and friends. Being a nurse was an extension of her care giving personality. Even during her last days and her battle with Alzheimer’s she was taking care of others.  All who knew and loved her will dearly miss her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Guter, her brothers, Bob Cairney and Jim Cairney and sister, Marion Caldwell. Jeanne will remain in the hearts of her daughters Mary (Dick) Verdier of Oriental, NC, Sharon Stewart of Lafayette, CA, Sue (E.Dennis) Zahrbock of Cumberland, WI, Sandy (Curt) Larson of Hudson, WI, and Barb (Bill) Boyle of Klamath Falls, OR; her brother, Tom (Phyllis) Cairney of Fort Dodge, IA and sister, Nancy (Otto) Trettel of Minnetonka, MN; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren.





In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the
Alzheimers Association ( www.alz.org ) and Stevens Community Medical Center .





Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.





Memorials are prefered to Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris and Alzheimers Association.
