Julia Danielson

Julia Haakenson, daughter of Hans and Syverine (Johnson) Haakenson, was born May 4, 1902 at Ten Mile Lake Township, near Boyd, Minnesota. She was confirmed on June 16, 1916 by Pastor E. C. Eid. Following her schooling, she worked at the Riverside Inn in Montevideo, MN, where she met her future husband, Daniel Danielson. The couple was united in marriage on November 16, 1932 in the parsonage of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo by Reverend John M. Mason.



Julia was a member of Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck, where she was an LCW member. She enjoyed baking and was known for her donuts and lefse. She enjoyed visiting with friends and spending time with her family.



Julia died on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, having lived to reach the age of 103 years.



She is survived by daughter: Shirley (Larry) Emmert of Blaine, MN; daughter- in-law: Shirley Danielson of Starbuck, MN; grandchildren: Michael (Loretta) Emmert of Saint Anthony, MN, Scott (Angela) Emmert of Menasha, WI, Mark (Jana) Emmert of Des Moines, IA and Duluth, MN, David Dengerud of Starbuck, MN, Nancy Weston of New Hope, MN and Steven (Julie) Dengerud of Grove City, MN; great grandsons: Jacob, Dane, Daniel and Theodore Emmert; sisters-in-law: Etta and Marj Danielson and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband: Daniel; her son: David; five sisters: Mabel Olson, Selma Korstad, Helma Noyes, Agnes DeYapp and Dagny Schultz and one brother: Edwin Haakenson.



Pallbearers for the service are: Michael Emmert, Scott Emmert, Mark Emmert, David Dengerud, Steven Dengerud and Ross Lundell. Monica Gosseling will serve as organist for the service with Joy Smith serving as soloist. Starbuck Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Fron Lutheran Church.
