Lanny Lee Rohloff, son of Wayne and Vera (Stock) Rohloff, was born September 4, 1946 in Morris, Minnesota.  He grew up on a farm in rural Morris attending District 16 Country School through the 7th grade and graduating with the Morris High School Class of 1964.  Following his schooling, Lanny worked on the family farm.  He was drafted to the United States Army in 1966 for two years, serving one year in Vietnam with the Big Red 1 Infantry, earning the Bronze Star for Meritorious Achievement in a combat zone.  He was united in marriage to Linda Barrie on September 23, 1967 at Fairfield Lutheran Church, rural Holloway, Minnesota.  The couple spent the remaining six months of his tour at Fort Hood, TX, before returning back home to Morris. Lanny farmed for several years, and worked at the Big Green 1 (The Stevens County Implement) where he was general manager, and later worked for Heartland Motors. Lanny struggled with various health issues starting in 1993, causing an early retirement, and continued until the time of his death.  On April 2, 2019, Lanny moved to the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls, MN, where he received amazing care and met many new friends and staff who he enjoyed spending time with and visiting.

Lanny was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Morris, a member of the Morris V.F.W. where he served as commander and a member of the Morris Chamber of Commerce.  When Lanny was younger, he enjoyed riding ponies and sledding with neighbors on the family farm.  He loved watching his children and grandchildren’s sports activities, including coaching little league, high school wrestling, basketball and baseball games.  He was known for keeping a beautiful yard with his family, and passed his passion of farming on to his son Craig and grandson Andrew.  Some of his favorite hobbies were golfing, fishing and camping.  Lanny and Linda took many family motor home trips including trips to Yellowstone, Michigan, the Black Hills and Canada. Lanny and Linda also loved to travel, taking trips to Mexico, the Caribbean, Hong Kong and Hawaii.  Most of all, Lanny cherished the time spent with his family, filling in as “Grandpa Daycare” whenever possible.

Lanny passed away peacefully, on Monday, October 9, 2023, at the Minnesota Veteran's Home in Fergus Falls. He was 77 years old.

He is survived by his wife: Linda Rohloff of Morris; two sons: Craig (Kathy) Rohloff of Bennington, NE and Kevin (Liz) Rohloff of Ankeny, IA; daughter-in-law: Stephanie (Mike) Rohloff Reese of Hancock; nine grandchildren: Robert (Corissa) Rohloff; Morgan (Logan) Paulsen, Bradley Rohloff, Beckett Reese, Andrew Rohloff, Anna Rohloff, Jacob Rohloff, McIntyre Rohloff and Addison Rohloff; one great-grandchild due in March, to parents: Robert and Corissa; siblings: Lowell (Cindy) Rohloff of Glenwood, Connie (Steve) Berg of Burnsville and LuAlan (Shawn) Rohloff of Morris; brother-in-law: Greg Weiler of Morris; sister-in-law: LuMae Rohloff of Litchfield and LuAnn RaDue of Plymouth and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his son: Lonnie Rohloff; his parents; his parents-in-law; brother: Larry Rohloff; sister: Bonnie Weiler and nephews: Daniel Rohloff and Ryan Berg.
