A graveside service for Larry Olson will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Erdahl Lutheran Cemetery in Erdahl Township, Grant County, Minnesota.
Dr. Larry Olson died peacefully on Wednesday, July 16th at his lake house on the “back waters” in Hamilton, Ga. He is survived by his fiancé, Lisa Anne Wilcox, and his sister, Beverly Olson. He was the son of Vigil and Ruby Olson.
Ms. Wilcox would like to thank his caregivers, particularly Betty (B.J. Cobb, nurse) who cared for him as well as Columbus Hospice.
Dr. Larry Olson was born in Elbow Lake, Minnesota and graduated high school there in 1970. He attended the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1977 and completed residencies in both Minnesota and Kentucky. He was board certified in both psychiatry and neurology. Dr. Olson’s career was one of exemplary service in both the private and public sector, to include administrative positions in Minnesota (where he was clinical director of Willmar State Hospital), North Carolina, Kentucky and Georgia (where he was clinical director of West Central Georgia Regional Hospital). He was also a surveyor for Medicare (CMS)
After his retirement, Dr. Olson was given the opportunity to work with the Veterans Association (VA) where he worked with individuals suffering from post-traumatic brain syndrome (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Syndrome (TBS)
In this “second retirement”, Dr. Olson enjoyed antiquing, reading, his cats and relaxing at his home on the lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Ruby (Skramstad) Olson, and a brother in infancy.
