Lena Reuter

June 13, 1921 — October 21, 2006

Lena Louise Farney, daughter of Eli and Sophia (Knochel) Farney, was born June 13, 1921 at Reynolds, IN. She grew up and received her schooling in the Wolcott, IN area, graduating from Wolcott High School. After her schooling, Lena moved to Ft. Wayne, IN, where she lived and worked for a few years. During this time of her life, she also was baptized and became a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. While living in Ft. Wayne, Lena met Robert Vernon Reuter, and the couple were married on July 18, 1948. Following their marriage, they made their home at Wolcott, where they lived and farmed until the early 1970's. At that time, they moved to the Hoffman, MN area, where they continued to farm until retiring. Robert died on December 12, 1988. Following his death, Lena continued to live on the farm, and began working with her son at his packaging business for the next 10 years. In 2004, Lena moved into Morris, where she has continued to live since that time.

Lena enjoyed knitting dishcloths; working on jigsaw puzzles and keeping in touch with people by writing and sending them encouraging notes. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Lena died on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, MN, having lived to reach the age of 85 years.

She is survived by her son: James (Carolyn) Reuter of Hoffman and four grandchildren: Amy (Durwin) Martin of Rock Rapids, IA, Brian (Val) Reuter of Windsor, CO, Mark (Becky) Reuter of Hoffman and Greg (Sheila) Reuter of Morris. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two brothers: David & Phillip Farney.
