Leola Bidleman

Leola Mildred Hegland, daughter of Walter and Violet (Olson) Hegland, was born November 22, 1939 in Starbuck , Minnesota , where she grew up, was baptized and confirmed. Leola worked various jobs through the years, she was a homemaker; she worked in the activities department at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home; she did day care in her home and was a waitress at Walt and Vi’s Café. On April 4, 1996, she was united in marriage to Orlo Mike Bidleman in Milbank , South Dakota . The couple made their home in rural Starbuck.

Leola was a member of Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck, where she served on the ladies auxiliary. She was also a VFW member, serving as Chaplin. Leola enjoyed knitting, sewing, reading, gardening and growing her roses.

Leola died on Monday, June 30, 2008 at her home near Starbuck , Minnesota , having lived to reach the age of 69 years.

She is survived by her husband: Mike Bidleman of Starbuck; two daughters: Vicki (Gordy) Moen of Glenwood and Connie Hauer of Montrouse; five grandchildren: Jessica, Jenny and Nicolle Hauer, Jeffrey (Angela) Moen and Christine (Jason) Meulebroeck; three great-grandchildren: RaeLynn Hauer and Madeline and Owen Meulebroeck; three brothers: Roger (Corki) Hegland of Alexandria, Eddy (Deb) Hegland of Coon Rapids and Howard Hegland of Glenwood; her cat “Spike” and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband: Robert Schnobrich; her parents and grandparents.

Honorary pallbearers for the service are Leola’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in charge of the arrangements.
