Leslie Alan DeBuhr was born in Morris, Minnesota, to Charles and Esther (Hubner) DeBuhr on March 2, 1956. Les was raised on the family farm, south of Chokio. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chokio, and received his education through Chokio-Alberta Schools, graduating with the class of 1974. When Les was a sophomore, he was thrown into full time farming, taking over for his Dad, who was needed to care for his wife. Through mutual friends, Les was introduced to Kathy Bartell of Herman. There was an instant spark and Les and Kathy were married on August 25, 1979, at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Norcross. They made their home on the family farm and welcomed two sons. In addition to farming, Les also had several side jobs throughout the years, including: his 27-mile snow route he had for over 25 years, and sandblasting at Prairie Trailer. In 2023, after living his whole life in the same home, Les and Kathy moved into Morris, passing their family farm to their son Mitchell and his family.

Les loved everything outdoors – especially fishing – whether it was in the summer or winter, fishing was a favorite pastime. He liked to tinker at the farm and collected various objects, all of which were valuable and needed, if you ever needed anything, Les more than likely had it. Most importantly, Les cherished the time he spent with his family.

Les died on Friday, June 13, 2025, he was 69 years old.

Les is survived by his wife, Kathy of Morris; sons: John (Sarah) of Glyndon, and Mitchell (Alyssa) of Chokio; two granddaughters: Katherine Rose and Josephine Leslie; three sisters: Arline Larson, Joyce (Michael) Busch, and Janice (Dean) Monson; step-sister, Nancy (Jerry) Bauer; cousins: Rita Bruer, and JoAnn Munn; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Esther DeBuhr; step-mother, Agatha DeBuhr; step-sister, Helen Claussen; nephew, Luke Monson; and niece, Whitney Busch.

Memorials are preferred to the Alberta Wildlife Federation and Morris Humane Society.
