Linda Kittelson

There will be a public visitation for Linda Kittelson of Starbuck, MN on Monday, June 8, 2020 from 4 to 7:00 p.m. at the Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck. A private family funeral service will be held. Burial will be in Fron Lutheran Cemetery rural Starbuck.

Linda Lou (Otterness) Kittelson was born on May 8, 1938 to Henry and Josie Otterness in Brooten, MN. Linda was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooten, MN. She attended Brooten High School, graduating with the class of 1956. After graduation, Linda moved to Minneapolis, where she worked at Consolidated Freight as a telephone operator. She also enjoyed driving her little red convertible down Hennepin Ave with the top down. Linda met Larry Kittelson at an event hosted at the Lakeside Ballroom, the two began dating and were married on August 6, 1960 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooten. In 1961 the couple moved to Starbuck, where they started their family. In the years that followed she worked at the Waters Edge, Glenwood Bakery, Nodland Café, and Pastry Shoppe Rosette Factory, where she made thousands of lefse.

Linda was a long-time member of From Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Fron Circle, the Red Hat Society, Sons of Norway, and the Knitting Club on Monday nights at the Nutcracker. In her spare time, Linda enjoyed knitting, golfing, bowling, playing bingo and cards. Linda also enjoyed attending any and all events that her grandchildren participated in. She loved to go for drives with Larry, and usually found a casino “on the way.” She was a big Minnesota Twins fan, watching every game she could. She also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Lynx, attending several games with Larry.

Linda died on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at the Vibra Hospital in Fargo, ND, she lived to 82 years.

Linda is survived by: one daughter: Shari (Donald) Opdahl of Starbuck; two sons: Dean Kittelson of St. Cloud and Troy Kittelson of Starbuck; three grandchildren: Brittany (Fernando) Zamora of Montevideo, Bridget Opdahl of Wimbledon, ND, and Drew Opdahl of Starbuck; one sister: Harriet (Harold) Jacobson of Brooten; and one brother: Allen (Joan) Otterness of Sartell. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Larry Kittelson; one brother: Jerome Otterness; one sister: Eleanor Johnson.

Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in care of arrangements for Linda.
