Committal services for Lyndell Lindahl, of Morris, Minnesota, will be held on Saturday, June 4th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Appleton City Cemetery, with Pastor Dave Meggers officiating. A time of fellowship and sharing will take place following the service.
Lyndell Martha Gades, was born to Herman and Anna (Carstens) Gades on December 6, 1929, in Fairfield Township, Swift County, Minnesota. She was baptized on December 8, 1929, at her home by Rev. Jaus. Lyndell was confirmed by Rev. E.T. Meichsner at Trinity Lutheran Church – Fairfield Township, on May 16, 1943. She attended rural school, District #48 and Holloway High School. She later started working in various homes, helping new mothers with housework; she also helped mothers that taught school with their young children at home. Lyndell later took a job as a check-out clerk at the National Tea Grocery Store in Appleton.
On September 1, 1951, she was united in marriage to Jurn Lindahl. They were involved in farming and several other businesses, including the Wagon Wheel Drive Inn in Appleton. She also worked at BH Electronics and later as a Certified Medication Aide at the Appleton Nursing Home. As a hobby, Lyndell enjoyed bowling and bingo.
While the family was growing up, Lyn taught Vacation Bible School, Wednesday School, she was a 4-H Leader and was a member of the Searchlight Study Club.
After retirement, she and Jurn lived in Starbuck and spent their winters in Arizona for many years. They later made their home in Morris. Jurn preceded Lyn in death in 2019, she continued to live in Morris, most recently at the Legacy Assisted Living until the time of her death.
Lyndell died peacefully on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the PioneerCare Center in Fergus Falls, Minnesota; she was 92 years old.
Lyndell is survived by her children: Curtis (Peggy) Lindahl of Watertown, SD, Dennis (Janet) Lindahl of Andover, Douglas Lindahl of Melrose, MT, Lori (Chuck) Schlueter of Chandler, AZ, Mary (Bob) Hoehn of Mesa, AZ, Jean (Jim) Thorson of Alexandria, and Joan (Randy) Fults of Donnelly; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brother: Gerald (Kris) Gades; sisters-in-law: Marlene Gades, Shirley Gades, Phyllis Gades, and Sharon Gades. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jurn “Jerry” Lindahl; daughter-in-law, Sharon Lindahl; great-granddaughter, Charlotte “Charly” Jones; five brothers: Wilbert (Mary) Gades, Ronald Gades, Norlen Gades, Roger Gades and Rodney Gades; one sister and her husband, Marjorie (LeRoy) Reuss; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Loren and Avis Lindahl and Ora Lindahl.
