Mabel Blomquist

Mabel Marie Paetow, daughter of Carl and Anna (Guth) Paetow, was born August 15, 1914 in Garvin , Minnesota . Mabel’s family lived in the Balaton area until 1923, when they moved to Erdahl , Minnesota , where she was confirmed at the Erdahl Lutheran Church . On December 18, 1932, she was united in marriage to Winfred Klevenberg. The couple made their home in the Cyrus area, where they raised their four children, James, Wanda, Arliss and Shirley. Winfred died on December 17, 1978. Mabel continued to live in Cyrus after Winfred died. She married Hermon Blomquist on November 29, 1980 and the couple remained in Cyrus. Hermon died on December 27, 1984. Mabel moved to the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck , MN on September 30, 2008, where she has continued to live until the time of her death. Mabel was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus, where she was active with the service groups.

Mabel died on Sunday, December 13, 2009 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck , Minnesota , having lived to reach the age of 95 years.

She is survived by one son: James (Carol) Klevenberg of Melba , ID ; two daughters: Wanda (Charles) Renken of St. Cloud and Arliss (Marvin) Godejohn of Burlington, ND; ten grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husbands; one daughter: Shirley Klevenberg; one granddaughter; one grandson and two brothers: Herbert Paetow and Walter Paetow.

Pallbearers for the service are: Michael Podtburg, Karl Renken, Kelly Renken, Kimberly Allen, David Paetow, Mark Allen and Kristi McDonnell. Honorary pallbearers are Mabel’s grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and anyone who called Mabel friend. Diane Hanse will serve as organist for the service with Sheryle Dahl serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus.
