Funeral services for Marilyn J. Nohl, of Hancock, Minnesota, will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Morris Evangelical Free Church in Morris with Reverend Hector Franco officiating. A visitation will be on Wednesday, May 7, from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery by Hancock.
Marilyn Joan Schaefer, was born on June 14, 1936, the only child to Emil and Kathryn (Miller) Schaefer, at the hospital in Morris, Minnesota. She was raised on the family farm near Hancock. Marilyn attended country school – ½ mile south of her home, which she walked to everyday with her friend, Doretta Toop, until the 8th grade. She continued her education at Hancock High School and made several long-lasting friendships there. Following her schooling, Marilyn worked at the Hancock Co-op Creamery for a time before starting at the Farm Service Agency. On January 7, 1973, Marilyn was united in marriage to Robert Nohl at her parents’ home by Minister Paul Fehr. They made their home in rural Hancock. In April 1984, a baby boy was born in Civdad Juarez, Mexico; making Marilyn a Mother, which was the joy of her heart. Corbin was brought to Minnesota in December of 1984 and the adoption was finalized in March of 1986.
Marilyn was a member of the Morris Evangelical Free Church in Morris. She accepted Jesus as her personal savior on November 13, 1988, Marilyn loved Jesus and was not afraid to tell everyone about it! She was baptized on November 13, 1988, at the Morris Evangelical Free Church by Pastor Mac Carlson. She enjoyed craftwork, reading, playing the piano, flower and vegetable gardening and attending sporting and school events. Marilyn loved her family and the time that they were able to spend together, especially wintering at their timeshare in Florida, and spending summer days at their home on Lake Mary. She enjoyed the lake, scenery, family time, and their neighbors.
Marilyn died peacefully on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Scandi Haven Village in Benson, she was 88 years old.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert of Hancock; son, Corbin (Malinda) Nohl of Clontarf; grandson, Easton; four step-grandchildren: Colton, Taylor, Mya, and Echo; brothers-in-law: Arthur (Sandra) Nohl of Hancock, and Alvin 'Junior' (Kathy) Nohl of Corcoran; and sisters-in-law: Jeanette Huber of Hancock, and Janice Nohl of Hancock; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Kathryn; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alvin and Minnie Nohl; and brothers-in-law: DeWayne Nohl and Sam Huber.
Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in care of arrangements for Marilyn.
