A Celebration of Life for Marilyn Stenson, of Glenwood, Minnesota, will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 1-3:00 p.m. at the Village Inn in Glenwood. Marilyn was laid to rest at Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery.

Marilyn Jean (Lee) Stenson was born on July 9, 1935, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, where she was raised and graduated from high school.

Marilyn married Pierce Everett Stenson and the couple lived in Glenwood, MN, where she worked in food service in the public school system.

She enjoyed reading, spending time with family, playing cards, volunteering at the Clothes Closet and Meals on Wheels and was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan.

She made many memorable dishes, including: Minnesota burgers, chili, gumbo sloppy joes, rhubarb sauce and her famous Christmas cookies that were always eaten before being allowed! These recipes have been loved by her children and grandchildren and are still often made. Marilyn made the holidays special and very memorable. She always made time to attend athletic events and be supportive of all the endeavors of her family. Many of her grandkids have shared their fond memories of grandma.

Marilyn died at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 8, 2025. She was 89 years old.

Survivors include her children: Gregory Johnson of Glenwood, Cynthia Richardson of Sun City, AZ, Donald (Barb) Stenson of Waukesha, WI, and Peter (Katie) Stenson of Farmington; brother, Donald Lee of Hemlock, MI; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pierce Stenson; parents: Harold “Buzz” and Myrtle Lee; sisters: Betty Acre, JoAnn Durling and Janet Pastrick.

The Starbuck Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements for Marilyn.
