Funeral services for Marion Heuer of Chokio, Minnesota, will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chokio with Abby Weick - Pastoral Minister, officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Chokio Lutheran Cemetery, rural Chokio.
Marion Elizabeth (Hoppe) Heuer, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, surrounded by her family at West Wind Village in Morris, MN. She was 88 years old.
She was born on October 17, 1937, in Morris, MN. One of two children born to William and Alice (Mohr) Hoppe. She was baptized November 14, 1937, at Zion Lutheran Church - Horton Township, rural Hancock, MN by Reverend C.W. Ristau where she was then confirmed on Mother's Day, 1951. She attended grade school through 8th grade in District #45 rural Hancock, MN. She graduated from Hancock High School with the Class of 1955 - during her high school years, she worked evenings at the Hancock movie theatre. Following high school, she worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator.
In 1954, while roller skating at the Morris Armory, she met her future husband Darrell Heuer - they were married on September 21, 1957. At that time, they moved to Chokio, MN, where they lived in the same house since 1957 and raised their two children, Timothy and Renae. Together, they owned and operated Heuer's Electric Service out of their home/garage/electric shop, where Marion was the bookkeeper/secretary of the business.
In the first years of their marriage, she directed Our Savior's Lutheran Church Choir, she belonged to the Chokio Village Homemaker's Club for many years. A released-time Wednesday and Sunday School teacher. She was an active member of Sarah Circle of Our Savior's Lutheran, has been on the Our Savior's Lutheran Library Board for many years, the Memorial Committee of Our Savior's, belonged to the Cross-Eyed Outreach Team for Our Savior's Lutheran and drove Chokio-Alberta School van for a number of years for extracurricular events. She enjoyed the youth she drove very much.
Marion really enjoyed attending church and church activities, listening to music, watching the Twin's play baseball on TV, eating Mexican food, walking, bike riding, playing the piano, traveling, shopping, visiting with friends and most of all spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Renae (DeWayne) Simonson of Chokio; three grandsons, Chad (Meagan) Simonson of Sauk Rapids, Scott (Amy) Simonson of Redwood Falls and Cory Simonson of Alexandria; five great-grandchildren, Adryan, Leo, Kalvin, Max and Kairi Simonson; goddaughter: Gail Heuer and nieces and nephews, Sheila, Sara, Deanne and Arnold Heuer.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Alice; husband, Darrell; son, Timothy Heuer and brother, Donald Hoppe.
Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements for Marion.
