Memorial services for Marvin John Kisgen of Alberta, Minnesota, will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Hancock, with Reverend Julius Miller officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, July 10, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Morris. Per Marvin's wishes, those attending are encouraged to dress casually.
Marvin J. Kisgen was born on July 7, 1939, to John and Veronica (Schneider) Kisgen. He was a proud graduate of the West Central School of Agriculture, Class of 1957.
On November 5, 1960, Marvin was united in marriage to Patricia May Cline at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Following their marriage, they made their home in Morris before moving to Alberta in 1971.
Marvin was known for his remarkable work ethic and took great pride in never missing a day of work. He drove for UPS for over 30 years, retiring in 2002. Retirement didn't last long, however, as he returned to work driving semi-truck. He fully retired at the age of 84, ending an impressive career with a safe driving record of which he was extremely proud.
In his free time, Marvin enjoyed birdwatching, tending to his flowers, and spending time with his beloved animals—his dogs, Willa and Lucy, and his cat, Donnelly. Above all, he was a devoted family man who was incredibly proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marvin often summed up the things he loved most in life with the simple phrase, "I loved Jesus, Chevrolet, and black Labs."
Marvin passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026 at the Courage Cottage in Morris; he was 87 years old.
Marvin is survived by his children, John (Nancy) Kisgen, Jodi (Mark) Holleman, Jackie (Ron) Berning, and Jeff (Dawn) Kisgen; ten grandchildren, Brandon (Sarah) Kisgen, Savannah Kisgen, Nathan (Brandi) Holleman, Bree (Nick) Smith, Taylor (Tiana) Holleman, Tanner (Kaycee) Berning, Jerid Berning, Logan (Claire) Kisgen, Morgan Kisgen, and Brayden Kisgen; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Jo Brown and Joyce Snell (Smokey Van Kempen); sister-in-law, Geri (Dave) Hennen; brothers-in-law, Gerald (Audrey) Cline, Tim Cline, Gordon Scribner, and Ron Kussatz; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patty; his parents, John Kisgen and August and Veronica Wilke; brothers, Ralph Kisgen and Jerry Kisgen; infant sister, Lois Kisgen; his parents-in-law: step-brother, Roger & Janice Wilke; Raymond and Josephine Cline; brothers-and sisters-in-law, Marvin Brown, Ronald and Mary Cline, Steve and Kathy Staples, and Pam Kussatz.
