Marvis Boon

April 23, 1931 — October 5, 2009

Marvis Mae Zopf, daughter of Herman and Eliza (Ferris) Zopf, was born April 23, 1931 in Herman, Minnesota, where she grew up and began her schooling. Marvis babysat and was a caregiver for the people that did not want to enter a nursing home. She worked in Bird Island, Olivia, Hector, Fairfax, Lake Lillian, Norcross and Herman. In December of 1983, she was united in marriage to Anthony “Tony” Boon at the First Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Lake Lillian, before moving to Villard, MN. Marvis and Tony moved to Glenwood in 2005. Tony died on January 14, 2008. Marvis has continued to make her home in Glenwood until the time of her death.




Marvis was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Villard, where she enjoyed quilting. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, embroidery, dancing and visiting with family and friends.




Marvis died on Monday, October 5, 2009 at her home in Glenwood, Minnesota, having lived to reach the age of 78 years.




She is survived by one sister: Ida Raitz of Bird Island as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister: Cora Wiesman; one brother: Harold Zopf.




Pallbearers for the service are all of Marvis’s family. Honorary pallbearer is John Billings. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
