Muriel Deaner

Muriel Ann Deaner was born on May 28, 1930 in Shell Lake, Wisconsin, to parents, Arnold and Stella (Ireland) Boe. She lived in Shell Lake until the age of three, when the family moved to Tower, Minnesota. She received her education in the public schools, graduating from Tower High School in 1948. She then attended and graduated from the Minneapolis School of Business in Minneapolis. Following business school, she was employed by Pillsbury Mills in Minneapolis as an office worker from 1949 to 1954. She married Robert (Bob) Deaner on June 8, 1952 in St. James Presbyterian Church in Tower. Three children were born to this union. In 1954, they moved to Sauk Center, Minnesota, where Bob was employed as railroad agent from 1954 until the fall of 1957. They then moved to Starbuck, where they have lived since that time. Muriel worked for Starbuck Cement Products from 1970 to 1973, and then she was employed at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home as office manager from 1973 to 1986.

Muriel was an active member of Fron Lutheran Church, where she served on the church circles; she was also a member of the Lutheran Home Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, playing the piano, playing bridge and bible study. She especially enjoyed the time spent with family and friends.

Muriel died on Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, having lived to reach the age of 75 years.

She is survived by her husband: Robert Deaner of Starbuck; one son: David (Denise) Deaner of Willmar; one daughter: Cynthia (Butch) Zierath of Jordan; five grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and one sister: Audrey Johnson of Virginia, MN. She was preceded in death by her son: Mark Robert Deaner; her parents and one sister: Valda Thompson
