Memorial services for Norene G. Kaehler of Morris, formerly of Cyrus will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Morris, MN, with Reverend Jack Baumgarn officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Horton Township.
Norene Garnet Giese, daughter of Herman and Helen (Hahn) Giese, was born on January 24, 1931 in Horton Township, Stevens County, Minnesota. She grew up and attended school in Hancock, graduating from Hancock High School in 1949. She was united in marriage to G.A. “Bud” Kaehler on October 26, 1950 in Horton Township. The couple made their home in Stevens County. Norene worked in the housekeeping department at the hospital in Morris for many years. Norene became a resident at West Wind Village in Morris on July 25, 2016.
Norene died on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at West Wind Village in Morris, MN. She lived to 86 years.
She enjoyed gardening, going bare foot in the soil, canning, birdwatching, puzzles and playing games. Most of all, Norene enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children: Tamra (Jim) Mulligan of Minneapolis, Wayne (Nancy) Kaehler of Atwater, Janell Dahle of Napa, CA, Allan (LuAnn) Kaehler of Grass Valley, CA, Kevin (Sue) Kaehler of Stewart, Beth (Gene) Van Den Einde of Willmar, John Kaehler of Cyrus and Mark Kaehler of Shakopee; ten grandchildren: Heather (Tim) Cassidy of New York Mills, Lydia Dahle of Minneapolis, Kyle (Kala) Kaehler of Atwater, Paige (Nikki) Kaehler of St. Cloud, Ryan Grose-Kaehler of Vallejo, CA, Caleb Van Den Einde of Willmar, Austin (Kayla) Van Den Einde of Willmar, Amber Mulligan of Bloomington, Jessica Barry of Reno, NV and Julie Barry of Novato, CA; six great-grandchildren: Edan and Nolan Cassidy, Grace and Emma Kaehler and Eiley and Harrison Kaehler; one brother: Delton (Monica) Giese of Shakopee; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband: G.A. “Bud” Kaehler; her parents; one sister: Mary Perkins; one brother: Byron Giese and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
