Opal Thornberg

Funeral services for Opal Thornberg of Morris, MN will be held Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris.

Opal M. Reynolds, daughter of Charles and Bessie (Hollister) Reynolds was born July 19, 1924 in Boy River, Minnesota. In 1929, Opal's family moved to Clinton, MN and in the 1930's they moved to Chokio. Opal attended Chokio and Donnelly Schools. Opal later moved to Minneapolis, where she worked as a hotel housekeeper. In June, 1966, she was united in marriage to Magnus Thornberg. The couple made their home in Morris. Magnus passed away in November, 1998. In 2004, Opal moved to West Wind Village in Morris, where she has continued to live until the time of her death.

Opal was a member of First Lutheran Church in Morris. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, canning, shopping and being with her many cats. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with family and friends.

Opal died on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the age of 91 at West Wind Village in Morris, MN.

She is survived by her daughter: Mary Johnson of St. Francis; one sister: Stella Hill of Morris; two brothers: Arthur Reynolds of Centerville, SD and Harvey Reynolds of Starbuck; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers: Leroy, Melvin and Richard Reynolds and two sisters: Loretta Reynolds and Clara Johnson.

Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
