The funeral for Pam Heil of Morris, MN will be held on Monday, July 22, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris, with Reverend Dell Sanderson officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, and Monday one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery, Hancock, MN.
Pamela Jayne Krogh was born to Jim and Corrine Krogh on April 22, 1957, in Fargo, ND. The Krogh family moved to Hancock in 1963. Pam graduated from Hancock High School in 1975 and attended licensed practical nurse training at North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND.
Pam married Brad Heil on April 3, 1976. They raised their children Ann and David on a farm near Hancock. Pam helped Brad with farm work and maintained the farm records and accounts. On the home front, she loved baking, canning, planning and tending flower gardens and creating quilts to mark special occasions. Their son David built Pam and Brad’s retirement home in Morris, where they moved in 2014.
Pam started her nursing career at West Wind Village. She began working at Stevens Community Medical Center (SCMC) in 1986. Pam completed coursework to become a registered nurse in 1990. She loved nursing, especially helping with deliveries and working in cardiac rehabilitation. She retired in 2019.
Pam loved spending time with her grandchildren Kellen, Corrie and Charli Erdahl and Emma Heil. Kellen, her first grandchild, was born on her birthday, which created a special bond. Her favorite past times were biking, golfing, bowling, relaxing in her hot tub, and spending time on a beach, preferably along an ocean.
Caregiving didn’t stop at the hospital. Pam was the primary caregiver for her parents, and she was an amazing caregiver for Brad. She learned everything she could about Brad’s rare form of dementia, oversaw all his medical care, tended to his daily needs, and helped him stay active and engaged.
Roughly two weeks after Brad passed, Pam was diagnosed with Stage 4 bile duct cancer. Knowing how hard the news would be for family, Pam didn’t divulge how much the cancer had spread. She was determined to be positive, fight the cancer and have more time with her family. She will be missed dearly.
Pam died peacefully on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, surrounded by her family. How fitting to spend her final moments at SCMC, where she devoted so many years of her life. The staff and Dr. Meichsner provided excellent and loving care.
In addition to her husband Brad, Pam was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Corrine Krogh.
Pam is survived by her daughter Ann (Brian) Erdahl, son David (Danielle) Heil and grandchildren Kellen, Corrie and Charli Erdahl and Emma Heil, all of Morris, MN; sisters Peggy Krogh, Duluth, MN and Paula (Bruce) Mielke, Falcon Heights, MN and brother James (Mary Anne) Krogh, Brookings, SD; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Debbie (Gary) McHone, Georgetown, TX, Wayne (Lisa) Heil, everywhere USA, John (Tracie) Heil, Austin, TX and Jodi (Chris) Austen, Pflugerville, TX; and many nieces, nephews and a great-niece and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials to be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Luther Crest Bible Camp or a charity of your choice.
The past several months have been very difficult for our family. We would like to thank everyone for their kind thoughts, deeds and care for our family. We have decided to make a charitable donation in Pam’s name in lieu of sending out thank you notes.
