Paul Grotjohn

The funeral for Paul Joseph Grotjohn, of Morris, Minnesota will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church in Morris, with Reverend Dell Sanderson officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Aeneas Lutheran Cemetery, near Kensington, Minnesota.

Paul Joseph Grotjohn, son of Albert and Edith (Fangmiere) Grotjohn was born on May 3, 1932 in Morris. He was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church. Paul grew up in Morris and attended Morris Public School. He entered the United States Air Force in 1950, graduating from A.C Ft. Sheet Metal Class 08061 B at the Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, Illinois. Paul was stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska. He was united in marriage to Elaine Hellberg on October 27, 1952 in Hoffman, Minnesota. Paul was honorably discharged in 1953. He learned the flooring trade from his brother Miles in Hibbing, Minnesota, where the couple lived until 1962, when they moved to Morris to start "Paul's Lino & Tile." Paul also did custodian work at the Stevens County Courthouse for 22 years. Paul retired from floor covering after 54 years.

Paul was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church. He loved hunting and fishing with his brothers and children. In his later years, you could find him watching football on T.V., as he was an avid "Vikings Fan." He will be remembered as a devoted and hardworking man.

Paul died on Monday, November 23, 2015 at his home in Morris. He was 83 years old.

He is survived by his wife: Elaine Grotjohn, Morris, MN; two sons: Joe (Julie) Grotjohn, Hawley, MN and Ron Grotjohn, Sioux Falls, SD; two daughters: Teresa Drewes, Park Rapids, MN and Sheryl Lawson, Brandon, MN; one brother: Dick Grotjohn, Jackson, MN; one sister: Judy (Jerry) Washek, Battle Lake, MN; 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Paul was preceded in death by one son, James, one daughter, Karen, his parents, two grandchildren, Jordan Grotjohn and Mitch Lawson, three brothers, Miles, Robert and Earl and two sisters, JoAnn and Irene.
