Raymond Paul George, son of Paul and Angeline (Gonsior) George was born on June 28, 1945 in Sisseton, South Dakota. He grew up in Sisseton, attending school and excelling in football and track. After his graduation in 1964, Ray began driving cattle truck. He was united in marriage to Anita Aadland on July 3, 1965 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Sisseton. Ray and family moved to St. Paul in 1968 and soon after Ray began working for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. In January 1978, the family moved to Morris when Ray transferred his location with the phone company.  He worked for the telephone company 33 years before retiring in 2004.

Over the years, many hours were spent on the lake fishing, whether around Morris, the Missouri River or the Polish Open on Waubay Lake in South Dakota.  Ray also enjoyed hunting and shooting pool. During his days in St. Paul, he would spend some time off-road racing with the “4x4 Club”.

Ray will be remembered as a strong-quiet man. He was friendly and caring and loved to tease and play jokes on those he loved. Most of all, Ray will be remembered for how much he loved his sons and grandkids and hated to see family leave after a visit.

Ray died on Wednesday, November 22, under hospice care and surrounded by his family at his son’s home in Rockville, Minnesota. He was 72 years old.

He is survived by his wife: Anita George, Morris, MN; three sons: Jeff George, Chicago, IL, Jesse (Shelley) George, St. Augusta, MN and Jeremy (Michelle) George, Rockville, MN; two brothers: Robert George, Sisseton, SD and Dennis (Dianna) George, Morris, MN; five sisters: Louise (Danny) Barth, Missouri, Delores Schwake, Texas, Pauline George, California, Carol (Bill) Watkins, St. Paul, MN and Darlene (Dick) Gannon, Roseville, MN; five grandchildren: Kelsi George, Milwaukee, WI, Katie George, St. Cloud, MN, Brooke, Alexis and Carter George, all of Rockville, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
