Raymond Nohl

May 1, 1961 — September 11, 2017

The funeral for Raymond “Ray” Nohl, of Hancock, Minnesota will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Morris, with Reverend Marlin Mohrman and Reverend Hector Franco officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery, Hancock.

Raymond “Ray” John Nohl, son of Noah and Shirley (Kellenberger) Nohl was born on May 1, 1961 in Morris, Minnesota.  He attended elementary and high school in Morris, graduating in 1980. After his schooling, Ray began one of the passions of his life, farming. He was united in marriage to Tracy Loge on October 2, 1982 in Morris.  The couple made their home on the Nohl family farm, raising small grains and corn, selling seed, and operating RCR Tiling. Ray’s love of the land, livestock, and operations of farming were very dear to him. The teachings of this to his sons were essential.

Ray enjoyed hunting and fishing, cherished family vacations, and weekend visits to Jess and Taylor’s home. The yearly winter family trip to Daytona Beach, Florida was a custom and this past winter Ray was able to share this trip with his precious granddaughter, Eliza Rae. He also found the week at Lake Darling with family and friends a tradition that will be missed.

Ray was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Morris.  The church was very important part of his life, being active not only on church boards and committees but spending hours caring for this house and family was not something he had to do but felt a privilege to care for.

The Nohl Butcher Shop was dear to Ray; spending hours with family butchering and making meat products was a hobby he cherished. Ray will be remembered for the love of his family, instilling work ethic and knowing whatever was worth doing needed to be done right.

Ray died on Monday evening, September 11, 2017 at his home near Hancock surrounded by his family.  He was 56 years old.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years: Tracy, Hancock, MN; three children: Jessica (Taylor) Witt, Alexandria, MN, Taylor Nohl and Corey Nohl, both of Hancock; his mother: Shirley Nohl, Morris, MN; one granddaughter: Eliza Rae Witt, Alexandria, MN, one brother: Roy (Ginger) Nohl, Hancock, MN and three sisters: Lois (James) Willert, Alexandria, MN, Betty (Dale) Noordmans, Hancock, MN and LuJean (Randy) Thielke, Holloway, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his father, Noah.
