Robert Frank

Robert Harlan Frank, son of Arthur and Ruth (Oberg) Frank, was born December 2, 1931 in Donnelly , Minnesota , where he grew up and began his schooling. He was baptized on May 29, 1932 at the Norwegian Church in Clinton , Minnesota and he was confirmed on June 9, 1946 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Donnelly. Bob graduated from Alberta High School in 1950 and continued his education at Moorhead State University , graduating in 1959 with a degree in teaching. Bob enlisted in the United States Army in April, 1954, where he served in the Korean Conflict. He received an honorable discharge on March 28, 1956. On November 24, 1962, he was united in marriage to Donna Harnack at Sharon Lutheran Church in Lamberton , Minnesota by Reverend Rudolph Berntson. The couple lived in Starbuck, where they raised their children and Bob taught elementary school. He spent time teaching Industrial Arts in Strandquist, MN and the 5 ^th grade in Hector, MN in 1962. He took a permanent teaching position in Starbuck in 1963, teaching math. Bob retired from teaching in 1991 and he and Donna have continued to live in Starbuck.

Bob was a member of Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck, the American Legion VFW, the Alpha Epsilon Fraternity at Moorhead State University and MEA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time in the card room, doing yard work which he loved, and watching sporting events, particularly the Minnesota Twins. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Bob died on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood , Minnesota , having lived to reach the age of 78 years.

He is survived by his wife: Donna Frank of Starbuck; three children: Debra (Bradley) MacRunnel of Elk River, Thomas (Sarah) Frank of Rochester and Angela (Chad) Andreas of Marshall; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and three sisters: Dorothy (Sam) Jordheim of Donnelly, Joanne (Odell) Christenson of Alexandria and Marcia (Bob) Baldwin of Burlington, KS. He was preceded in death by one grandson: Scott MacRunnel; his parents and one brother: Donald Frank.

Pallbearers for the service are: Aaron MacRunnel, Shaun MacRunnel, Mark Frank, Dan Frank, Paul Christenson and Jeff Gibson. Honorary pallbearers are all of Bob’s buddies at the Starbuck card room. Shari Opdahl will serve as organist for the service with Joy DuBois serving as soloist. Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in charge of the arrangements.
