Funeral services for Ronald Himango of Starbuck, MN will be Friday, January 20, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at East Zion Lutheran Church, rural Starbuck. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Ronald Allen Himango, son of Rudolph and Agnes (Clifgard) Himango, was born August 14, 1949, in Starbuck, Minnesota. He was baptized on September 11, 1949, and confirmed October 11, 1964, at East Zion Lutheran Church, rural Starbuck, Minnesota. Ron grew up and attended school in Starbuck, graduating from Starbuck High School in 1968. Following his schooling, Ron began farming alongside his father. He was united in marriage to Judy Magedanz on October 9, 1971, at Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley. Ron and Judy made their home on a farm south of Starbuck where they raised their family. While farming, Ron worked seasonal jobs and learned how to drive a semi-truck. He transported livestock and later worked for Chamberlain Oil in Clontarf, driving fuel transports for many years. Ron finished his working years at Prairie Correctional Facility in Appleton, MN as a prison guard. Following his retirement, Ron continued to live at their home until the time of his death.
Ron was a lifetime member of East Zion Lutheran Church and was part of the Starbuck Jaycee’s. In his younger years, Ron was active in 4-H, showing hogs and participating in horse shows. Ron loved attending his children’s sporting events, listening to live music, meeting for breakfast and visiting with friends. Ron also enjoyed volunteering for the Starbuck Depot.
Ronald died on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood; he was 73 years old.
He is survived by his wife: Judy Himango of Starbuck; two children: Ryan (Rebecca) Himango of Parker, CO, and Robin (Peter) Abrahamson of Chaska, MN; five grandchildren: Carter Himango, Graham Himango, Lauren Abrahamson, Luke Abrahamson and Caleb Abrahamson and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
Starbuck Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Ronald.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the East Zion Cemetery Association.
