Rose Alice Murphy was born December 14, 1925 in Graceville, MN to Mary (Dewane) and William Murphy. At a young age Rose Alice decided she did not like to be called Rosie, so she changed her name and has been known as Rosalys ever since. She attended District 41 country school and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1943. While attending high school Rosalys lived in Morris and served as a nanny for families in exchange for room and board. She also met her future husband, Maurice Weiler, at St. Mary's. Following high school, Rosalys worked for Dr. Fitzgerald. She enjoyed writing the Horton news for the Morris paper and documented life through daily journaling.

On September 24, 1946, Maurice and Rosalys were married at Assumption Church in Morris. They settled into life on the farm and raising their children. Rosalys worked hard to keep things running smoothly on the farm by keeping the farm records. She contributed to feeding and clothing her family with a huge garden, canning, raising chickens and sewing. Rosalys' daily life was often enhanced by friends stopping to purchase eggs, pick rhubarb, and visit. In addition to working together during their 57 years of marriage, Maurice and Rosalys enjoyed many trips throughout the U.S. and abroad, often to visit their children and grandchildren.

Rosalys was a selfless caregiver to family and friends. Taking care of and spending time with her family was the highlight of her life. Rosalys graciously accepted and loved the many additions to her family. She cooked for a large number of people every day and hosted extended family for holiday gatherings. There was always room for more at Rosalys' table. Her bread, long johns, pies and donuts were sought after treats. She gifted her family with handiwork and made afghans for her grandchildren.

Rosalys founded the St. Michael's Mission Circle. She was active in Assumption Church and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Christian Mothers, the Fellowship and Service Group, Befrienders, and Bible study. She also served as a 4-H leader and was active in Pro Life activities.

Rosalys was a beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her faith, strong will, unique sense of humor, quick wit and willingness to help others are gifts she gave that will live on through her family and friends.

Rosalys died on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the Courage Cottage in Morris, MN. She lived to 89 years.
