A memorial service for Shirley Frank of Donnelly, Minnesota, will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Donnelly, Minnesota with Reverend Michael Nelson officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. A private family burial will take place at a later date at Vinger Cemetery near Donnelly.
Shirley Ann Gullickson, daughter of Clarence and Christina (Trappen) Gullickson, was born July 20, 1936 in rural Traverse Township near Tintah, Minnesota. She grew up and attended school in Tintah graduating from High School in 1954. She was united in marriage to Donald Frank on December 2, 1955 in Donnelly, Minnesota, where the couple made their home, and raised their family of three children. In 1968, Don and Shirley purchased Gambles Hardware Store from Don’s father. They owned and operated the Gambles Store for 16 years. Donald passed away February 6, 2002. Shirley continued to live in Donnelly until the time of her death.
Shirley was a very active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Donnelly. She loved shopping, crafts and baking cookies and breads. She also enjoyed planting flowers, especially her rose bushes, and was an avid reader. Most of all, Shirley cherished her time with friends, family and her grandchildren.
Shirley passed away peacefully in her sleep, at her home in Donnelly, on Friday, December 13th, 2019. She was 83 years old.
She is survived by three children: Laurie (Mark) Hofer of St. Cloud, Mark Frank of Eden Prairie and Daniel Frank of Northfield; three grandchildren: Bryan Frank, Jon Hofer and Ryan Hofer; five great-grandchildren: Brett, Libby, Maddison, Izaak and Eli Hofer; brother: Gerry (Marlys) Gullickson of Apple Valley; sisters-in-law: Carol Gullickson of St. Paul, Donna Frank of Starbuck and Marcia Baldwin of Burlington, KS; brothers-in-law: Sam Jordheim of Donnelly and Odell Christenson of Lakeville, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents; granddaughter: Tracy Hofer; brothers: Alfred and Bill Gullickson; sister: Janice Klein; infant sister: Kathleen Gullickson; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Jordheim and Joanne Christenson; brothers-in-law: Eugene Klein, Robert Frank, Robert Baldwin and Phillip Hougard.
IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, MEMORIALS ARE PREFERRED TO ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH.
