Funeral services for Steven Liljequist of Morris, MN will be Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. Reverend Neil Thielke will be officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Moorhead, MN.
Steven was born on January 31, 1953 in Moorhead, Minnesota. In September of 1974 he moved to Morris, MN to live in a residential setting- Hoffman Home (later re-named Ravenwood Home). This was home to Steven until the time of his death. Steven also attended the Stevens County DAC until February of 2015, where he made many friends. Many of Steven's housemates have lived with him for 40 years forming a strong family bond. He has touched so many lives in the work place and in the community, as well as hundreds of staff that have been involved in providing care and services for Steven throughout the years. The immeasurable impact Steven made in the people's lives who knew him is cherished and endless.
Steven had a sweet affectionate spirit, loving to pat someone on the cheek and call them "my friend". He attended the services at the Morris Community Church for many years and many friendships formed with fellow believers in Christ. Steven's favorite activities were eating at McDonalds, going to the library, and going out for coffee. He enjoyed participating in Special Olympic events and many other community activities. Steven loved music and the quiet times in life. Spending time relaxing at home with friends and fellow housemates gave him great joy. He found comfort and enjoyment out of the simple pleasures in life. A good piece of chocolate and a can of coke would bring a smile to his face, but he always had the biggest smile for those who were dear to his heart.
Steven died on Monday, October 19, 2015 at his home in Morris. He lived to 62 years.
