Theodore Glen Horning was born on January 20, 1936 in Graceville, MN. He was the son of Orville and Lillian Horning. He attended elementary school in District #61 and West Central School of Agriculture in Morris, MN graduating in 1954. In August 1955, he served in the Army for two years and spent 16 months in Korea with the 24th Field Artillery Battalion.

On April 6, 1958, Ted married Adrienne Akerson at Saint Joseph Lutheran Church in Rosholt, SD. They had four children: Steve, Sheryl, Janet, and Jean. Together they shared 67 years of marriage and resided in Everglade Township of Rural Chokio, and the last 5 years resided close to their children in the Minneapolis area.

Ted was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church of Chokio MN. He served on the Church Council, Town Board, and Chokio Lutheran Cemetery Board.

In his free time, Ted enjoyed camping, dancing, traveling, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. For 12 years they enjoyed wintering with their friends in AZ.

Ted passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at the age of 89.

He is survived by his wife, Adrienne Horning; his son, Steven Horning (Barb) of Waconia, MN; his daughter, Sheryl Ellett (Dave) of Spring Park, MN; his daughter, Janet Long (Jeff) of Maple Grove, MN; his daughter, Jean Warnert (Paul) of Chaska, MN; and ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Marilyn Trost, Sharon (Don) Sunquist, Judy (Ken) Rethmeier, as well as his brother, Kurt (Jana) Horning. Ted passed away, to join his parents, infant son, sister Dorothy Simpson, brothers, Don, Roger, and Wally Horning, and in-laws, Gene Simpson, Robert Trost, Marilyn, Nancy and Peggy Horning

Ted was a fun-loving, hilarious man who brought immense happiness and joy to our family and others. He had an infectious laugh. He possessed a big heart and a larger-than-life personality. He was loyal, steady, and a hardworking individual who cherished his farming and the time he spent working with his brothers. Ted was deeply connected to the community of Chokio and his church and enjoyed spending time with the boys, going up for coffee. He loved to hug and kiss his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There will be a large void in our hearts as we will forever miss our Teddy Bear.
