A visitation will be on Tuesday, from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Starbuck..

Timothy Scott Aslagson was born on August 17, 1956 to Muriel (Kjera) and Sidney Aslagson in Starbuck, MN. He grew up on the family farm west of Starbuck, and graduated from Starbuck High School in 1974.

Tim was married in 1978, and although this relationship was not permanent, they had 3 children: Andrew, Samantha, and Jesse. Tim later met his best friend, soul mate, and wife Cathy. They were married at Minnewaska Lutheran Church on Oct 16, 2004. They were blessed with 12 grandchildren who all loved field trips to the farm.

Tim was a farmer and truck driver for most of his life, balancing the long hours of driving with the never-ending list of chores associated with raising cattle and tending to the field work. He logged over 3 million miles driving around the state of MN during his career. He eventually transitioned out of the truck to operate an industrial forklift until his retirement. He retired from Hancock Concrete in 2022 after 43 years of service. Tim continued to farm with his brother and sons until his passing.

Tim was a “jack of all trades,” in that he could fix or build almost anything, and if nothing else, he wasn’t afraid to give it a try. The endless supply of spare wires, hoses, or clamps kept in a drawer “just in case” were a testament to his resourcefulness. One of his favorite projects to undertake was refinishing old farm equipment. From payloaders to tractors, he’d tackled quite a few over the years. His final undertaking was his 706 Farmall. He was incredibly proud of it, and for those who were the recipients of texted pictures of his progress: Yes, he painted it black. Yes, he knew Farmalls are supposed to red. He just wanted to paint it black anyway.

In Tim’s retirement, when he wasn’t in a tractor or working on some other project, Tim and Cathy enjoyed going on various road trips, from Medora to Missouri, checking out local attractions along the way. They got their adrenaline fix by going for side-by-side trail rides. They also enjoyed time spent together trying to win big at the casino. While Tim may not have hit the jackpot on the slot machine, he was rich in love for his wife and family.

Tim left this world much too soon, and passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025 surrounded by his family after a brief battle with lung cancer.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy; children: Andy (Kate) Aslagson of Starbuck, Sam (Dan) Giacomini of Broomfield, CO, Jesse Aslagson of Starbuck, and step-son Adam (Danica) Goodman of Little Falls; grandchildren: Matthew, Eli, and Noah Aslagson, Riley Giacomini, Madden, David, Jenaya, Logan, Mason, Beckett, Brecken, and Holland Goodman; and brother, Phillip Aslagson of Starbuck. He is preceded in death by his parents: Sidney and Muriel Aslagson; infant brother; in-laws, Leonard and Jeanette Hardekopf.

IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, MEMORIALS ARE PREFERRED TO THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY OR DONORS CHOICE.
