Betty Maye (Beebe) Kolden was born on September 30, 1930 the daughter of Robert and Margaret (Miller) Beebe of Hancock. She attended grade school and high school in Alberta District 45. After high school she worked at the Schult’s General Store in Alberta. In 1948, Betty’s sister introduced her to Mr. Arnold A. Kolden. On March 23, 1951 the two were united in marriage at the First Lutheran Church in Morris, MN. Their union was blessed with four sons, Arnold Jr., Jerry, David and Kirk. After starting a family Betty had the opportunity to stay home and raise her family. When she was not busy chasing her sons and Arnie Sr. she would spend her time gardening both flowers and vegetables and raising thousands of chickens. She was always busy! She volunteered for over forty years with the VFW Women’s Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Betty’s favorite moments were spent with her family. She was an active soul whom loved to play games, whether it be croquet in the yard or farkle or cards at the kitchen table. Betty’s grandkids found out early about her competitive nature, she made the kids earn their wins. Betty loved to teach and share with others her different crafts and talents. Every grandchild received crocheted blankets and the family would gather to have her famous klub or blood sausage. Betty’s laugh and time spent together will forever live on in her family and friends’ hearts.

Betty passed away peacefully with her family surrounding her bedside on Friday, November 8, 2019 at the age of 89.

She is survived by her children: Jerry and Deb Kolden of Pennock, David and Lisa Kolden of Chokio, Kirk and Lisa Kolden of Morris; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Deb Kolden of Alberta; brother, Raymond Beebe of Anoka; many nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Kolden Sr.; son, Arnold A. Kolden Jr.; infant sister, Margaret Beebe; sister, Lulu Beebe; Brothers, Robert, Marshall and Lloyd Beebe.
